This week the Future High Street Fund bid for Maryport took a massive step forward with the start of public consultation on the proposal.
The proposal aims to revitalise the area with several schemes including revamping the High Street, bringing The Charlton building back into use, and an events space and a shared working area. It also intends to bring museum and gallery space into Christ Church and revamp the Wave Centre to broaden the appeal of visiting Maryport.
With a final decision due in the Autumn I am hopeful that a focused and family orientated bid will bare fruit.
