Dr Neil Hudson, MP for Penrith and The Border, was invited to the Head Office of Bells of Lazonby to discuss a range of issues pivotal to the Cumbrian business community.
The Penrith MP met with Michael Bell and Tim Conder from Bells' leadership team who impressed upon Dr Hudson the huge scale of the operation which now exports millions of pounds worth of hypo-allergenic produce as far as Australia.
Moreover, the local firm employs hundreds of people in their two Lazonby factories and they supply major UK café chains.
Dedicated to championing local businesses, Dr Hudson has been proactive on a range of issues such as calling for action on VAT, pushing for more support to businesses off the heating grid and making sure staffing levels remain buoyant. He discussed what further support could be given to companies like Bells which provide so much for the local community.
Dr Neil Hudson, MP for Penrith and The Border, said:
“I was thoroughly impressed by the operation at Bells. With a world-leading research and development wing, the team have made a small Eden village into a huge industry hub.
“Furthermore, it was clear the community-orientated company gives so much to Lazonby. You only need to glance at their employee-retention figures to realise how dedicated they are to helping workers explore career opportunities and feel valued.”
