The Leader of the Conservative Group has accused the Labour executive of "shutting down" questions on bin strikes.
Mike Johnson, who represents Thursby, made the comments as it emerged that there was no update from the portfolio holder.
The binmen of Allerdale have been involved in industrial action since April and are asking for parity of pay with their colleagues.
Coun Johnson said: "Given the scale of the disruption to ratepayers caused by Labour's bin chaos, I am disappointed that there has been no update whatsoever from the portfolio holder or the leader.
"Indeed, when councillors sought to ask questions in the public interest at a meeting of the full council, they were actively closed down.
"This is a matter of some urgency to the people I represent. Yet it seems that Labour is determined to dodge questions, avoid responsibility and keep people in the dark about the progress.
"This should be at the top of the council's priorities but it wasn't even featured as an item on the agenda."
